On October 1, 2010 Florida will begin participation in the NMLS system. All licensed mortgage brokers, mortgage brokerage businesses and lenders must reapply for licensure under the new requirements. Because of the volume of individuals and businesses required to be licensed in the NMLS system, the state is encouraging all persons and businesses affected to apply as early as possible. Also, Florida will be participating in the testing and education certification offered in conjunction with the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. All currently licensed mortgage brokers who apply between October 1 and November 30 will have their pre-lciensing education certified by the state. All licensed mortgage brokers who have passed a FL test after January 1, 2004 will have their FL test component certified as well. All individuals will have to complete the national component of the SAFE test.

For more information regarding the FL transition, please go to: http://mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org/slr/transitions/Pages/FLTransPlan.aspx .
